get together:

There are several of our present and past members that can no longer make it to
our meetings or our sponsored programs. We
want to identify these very special people that have been such a vital part of
our Alliance. Some may not be
members right now but were very active in the past. We have lost track of some
of them, others we have neglected.
This is where you come in. We need
your help identifying those that we have
not heard from in a while. We
intend to call them to let them know that they are not forgotten, or send a note
to see how they are doing.
We have a long line of wonderful Alliance members that have helped to make us
what we are today. If you know of
someone who you feel fits this category please give their name, phone number or
address to Cheryl Thoms at 810-732-7719. She
will put together a list and we will make contact with them. Future issues of
the Focus will carry articles on some that we have been able to contact.

Gourmet Club Members Meet at Brio
Tuscany
Grille
Fifteen members of the FCGC (coined by a good friend and
past-president Carmen Villegas) met for lunch at the popular restaurant Brio
housed in the Somerset Mall in
Troy
on December 8th. The restaurant is part of a chain of upscale
Italian restaurants that provides tantalizing Italian food in an ambience that
is “dressed up but informal”.
The
appetizer of roasted garlic, spinach and artichoke dip served with parmesan
chips helped settle down the hunger pangs as we ordered lunch and caught up on
news about family, kids and the great buys of the season!
Many
in the group ordered the Pasta Brio (penne served with grilled chicken in a
roasted red pepper sauce) while some of us decided that we would be adventurous
and try the black pepper shrimp in a piccante sauce served with crispy Fontina
risotto cakes and the mushroom and cheese ravioli. Tammy Bruening ordered the
wood grilled salmon salad and declared that it was
“delicious”.
The portions were large enough (we were stuffed) that we decided to skip dessert
and walked out with “doggie bags”!
Our
only complaint about the restaurant was the slow service but the staff
were forgiven because they did serve us with smiles.
Alliance
interest groups serve a special purpose…they bring members together and the
FCGC is one way that many members keep in touch with each other.
So, if you would like to make new friends, renew friendships or simply
just want to enjoy good food with a fun group without the hassles of agendas and
meetings, then this just might be your cup of tea!
Our
next gastronomic adventure will be in April so feel free to call me at
810-953-1614 or e-mail me at jkommareddi@yahoo.com
if you would like to be added to the list of interested members.
Looking
forward to seeing you in the New Year!
