Members Enjoy Capitol Check Up Day In Lansing
Once again the GCMS Alliance had the largest delegation to the annual Capitol Check Up Day in Lansing hosted by MSMS, MSMS Alliance and other organizations.
Nine members met at the GCMS office to caravan down to Lansing along with Pete Levine and Dr. Larry Reynolds. We were joined later by a large group of GCMS physicians.
The conference room was packed with physicians, alliance members, county executives and many others, all of whom had taken the day off to listen to lawmakers talk about major political issues and legislation that impact physicians and patient care in Michigan. Attendees listened to Senators Gilda Jacobs, Hansen Clarke, Bev Hammerstrom, Tom George, MD and Liz Brater talk abut health care priorities, independent prescribing authority for Advanced Practice Nurses (APN’s), mental health parity legislation and insurance reform. Supreme Court Justice Maura Corrigan provided judicial updates.
While some of our members had to leave immediately after the meeting, Cheryl Thoms, Mary Ryan, Ruqsana Ahmed and your’s truly stopped at Dusty’s Bar & Pub for a delicious dinner… what a great way to end an educational and fun afternoon!!
